Amanpreet Cheema, MSN, ARNP, PMHNP-BC — Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Amanpreet specializes in telehealth psychiatric medication management for adults across Sammamish and Issaquah, plus surrounding communities such as Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, and Seattle, with specialized training and deep commitment to South Asian mental health, LGBTQIA+ care, and culturally responsive psychiatry.
How I Got Here — From Teaching to Psychiatric Nursing
Before I began my career in healthcare, I served as a teaching assistant and tutor with the goal of becoming a teacher. I loved working with children of all ages and watching them grow. But during health and nutrition classes in my education degree, something shifted. I realized I cared about more than just their academic growth — I wanted to support their physical and mental wellbeing as whole people. That inner calling to care for others led me toward nursing, which filled a missing piece I had been searching for.
Over the years, my focus deepened into psychiatric nursing and psychiatric mental health practice. I went on to earn my Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University and became board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have worked across community mental health settings — in inpatient, outpatient, and diverse clinical environments — as well as in private practice. Each setting taught me something different about resilience, about what clients carry, and about what becomes possible when care is truly coordinated and culturally responsive.
Today, as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Centered Mind Counseling Services, I continue to integrate my background in education and nursing to provide culturally responsive, patient-centered psychiatric care. My goal is to help adults improve their emotional wellbeing through thoughtful medication management and supportive guidance — making sure every client feels heard, understood, and empowered.
How I Help — Psychiatric Medication Management Sammamish and Issaquah
I work with adults facing a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and mood disorders. My approach blends psychiatric medication management Sammamish with brief supportive psychotherapy to promote balance, resilience, and sustainable change.
You know your life better than any chart does. My job is to understand it well enough to actually help.
I take time to understand not just what is happening clinically, but what is happening in a person’s life — at home, at work, in relationships. Thoughtful medication management works best when it is part of a broader picture, not a standalone fix. For many of my clients, that means collaborating with therapists here at CMCS or elsewhere, coordinating with primary care providers, and staying in real communication with families when that is appropriate.
I bring therapeutic tools directly into my work — time to listen, space to process, and support that honors the whole person. Sessions are not just medication check-ins. There is room to do real work together.
Every person I see deserves to feel safe in the room. That includes LGBTQIA+ individuals and families, members of the South Asian community, immigrant and refugee communities, and anyone who has felt dismissed or unseen in a clinical setting before. You belong here, exactly as you are.
I specialize in culturally attuned mental health care for the South Asian and immigrant communities. I understand the unique cultural dynamics — family structures, values, immigration experiences, and stigma — that shape mental health in these communities. My practice is built on collaboration, education, and deep respect for each client’s story, identity, and values.

The Benefit of Having a Full Team Behind You
One of the things that makes working with Amanpreet at Centered Mind Counseling Services different is that integrated care is already here when you need it. Whether you start with psychiatric support alone, therapy alone, or both at once — if your needs shift or you want to add another layer of care, that option is in place. Amanpreet works directly alongside our therapists and counselors, so your providers are talking to each other. You do not have to coordinate it yourself or repeat your story from scratch every time.
For many adults, that kind of coordination makes a meaningful difference — a therapist who knows what is happening in psychiatric appointments, a prescriber who knows what is happening in therapy, a care team that truly works together. On a Personal Note
I love to travel and have a goal to visit every continent and all 50 states — I am making good progress on that dream. I love learning about different cultures, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with loved ones. Helping others brings me great joy, and I dedicate part of my time to mentoring aspiring nursing students, particularly those who are immigrants and have English as a second language. There is something powerful about walking alongside someone navigating a new country and a new healthcare system.
The South Asian community is close to my heart. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am passionate about breaking stigma around mental health in my community and advocating for culturally informed, compassionate psychiatric care. I believe deeply that mental health support should be available to everyone, regardless of cultural background or language — and that providers who understand your culture, your values, and your story make all the difference.
Amanpreet Cheema brings culturally responsive expertise and genuine warmth to every client she works with at Centered Mind Counseling Services (CMCS). Her commitment to South Asian mental health, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and whole-person psychiatry makes her a trusted resource for adults navigating mental health challenges across Washington State.
