Who I Am

I grew up in a multicultural home and as a family we moved several times throughout my childhood. I found myself among many different groups of people. At an early age I recognized the importance of taking care of your mental health. My parents set a great foundation of encouraging my siblings and I to seek help and talk through the good and bad times. Now as an adult I am thankful for the foundation they laid as I am continually building and advocating for others to do the same.

In my free time, I love spending time exploring the world with my husband and our golden retriever Ryder. My self-care changes with the seasons from wake surfing, to skiing or reading a good book with a cup of tea.

Why Counseling?

While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I had the privilege of working with clients with autism. I worked as a behavioral technician and 24-hour home care nanny with children and teens on the spectrum. I recognized the need for mental health support around neurodiversity. There was support through behavioral techniques, but mental health was lacking. While pursuing my master’s I had the privilege of interning at Sunrise Services where I gained more experience working with adults in different capacities and diagnoses. This is where I grew to love the field more as the reward of helping guide people to healing has become the greatest experience.

My Approach

I believe everyone is the expert of their own lives. I utilize techniques and therapeutic approaches to guide my clients into self-discovery. As a clinician I operate from a person-centered, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness approach. I find value in other therapeutic approaches and will incorporate other modalities as I feel they fit. With therapy only being an hour, I incorporate what I call “action”. This is a reflective time at the end of the session where clients can move to action in their week to work towards healing and discovery.
