Meet Cheyanne

Cheyanne Prominski, MSW, LSWAIC — Child, Adolescent & Adult Therapist

Serving clients in Sammamish and via Telehealth across Washington State

Why I Became a Therapist

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to helping people, listening to their problems, offering comfort, and creating a calm, safe space for them to feel seen and supported. Growing up with my own experiences of childhood trauma and navigating living with a vision disability, I knew early on that I wanted to go into a field where I could be the adult I needed at that age. Every child deserves someone outside of the home who believes in them and helps build their resilience, and I strive to be that person.

I am passionate about supporting children and teens as they heal, grow, and rediscover their self-worth. I’m committed to giving them the space to be authentically themselves, honoring their autonomy while guiding them forward through the therapeutic process.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapeutic work focuses on early childhood attachment, with a primary emphasis on repairing and strengthening relationships between children and their primary caregivers. I believe healing happens through connection, and I work closely with families to build secure, nurturing relationships that foster emotional well-being.

Children and teens need to feel safe, accepted, and in control of their healing journey. In our work together, I meet each young person where they are emotionally and developmentally, helping them explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. I integrate play therapy as a core part of my process, using it as a bridge for communication, emotional expression, and healing.

My Counseling Background

I am a trained crisis counselor with extensive experience supporting individuals struggling with suicidal ideation, self-harm, and acute mental health crises. I have deep knowledge in crisis intervention and safety planning, including harm reduction, and I take a trauma-informed, compassionate approach in these moments of need.

In addition, I’ve worked with individuals across the lifespan who face challenges related to intellectual and developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, OCD, disordered eating, dysfunctional family dynamics, and parental struggles. My background includes supporting those who have experienced significant trauma, helping them move toward a place of strength and empowerment.

What I’m Passionate About and Ongoing Development

I am deeply passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces where children and teens feel free to be themselves without judgment or pressure. I believe in nurturing each client’s strengths, helping them tap into their inner resilience, and fostering confidence through a secure therapeutic relationship.

Whether we’re working on emotional regulation, navigating family challenges, or building self-esteem, my goal is always to walk beside each child and family as they move toward healing, connection, and hope. Ongoing, I plan to pursue my PhD in Developmental Psychology, focusing on premature infants, children, and teens who have experienced trauma.

In My Free Time

Outside of my work, I enjoy quiet moments and meaningful connections. I love reading, puzzles, and listening to podcasts that inspire and challenge me. Being in nature, especially near water, restores me, and I value spending time with the people who matter most in my life.
