A Winding Road that Brought me to the Right Place
When I was young I was forever putting myself in other people’s shoes, trying to understand what they were thinking and feeling and why they did things. I loved reading fiction because it often gave me insight into minds and perspectives of characters. While completing my Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, I took a psychology class “for fun,” and found my passion.
However, it wasn’t until years later, after life experiences that helped me to grow – marriage, infertility challenges, and parenting a special needs child, among others – that I felt ready to pursue a career in psychology.
How I Help . . .
I believe the key to helping clients achieve a higher level of satisfaction in life is by identifying thought and behavior patterns that are creating problems, uncovering strengths, and using those strengths to bring about desired changes. I understand that the connection between therapist and patient is vital to the healing process, and I strive to provide a warm and safe environment where people can explore their concerns, work though challenges and emerge from the process feeling empowered and on a path to well-being.
When working with couples, I focus on improving communication, increasing relationship satisfaction and addressing parenting issues.
Who I Help . . .
I enjoy working with adolescents, teens and adults struggling with depression, bipolar, anxiety, disordered eating, relationship issues, and adjustment to life transitions. I’ve worked in the middle and high- school settings, helping adolescents and teens address issues of low self-esteem, stress and anxiety, lack of academic motivation, bullying, peer pressure, anger management, and family problems.
Having had personal experience with infertility, I have a passion for working with those struggling in this area, helping them with the feelings of frustration, stress, loss and relationship challenges.

On a Personal Note
In my free time, I enjoy working out and being outdoors either running or hiking. I find that keeping a strong body helps me feel grounded and centered, and that running and hiking give me time to sort out my thoughts and feelings. I’m an avid reader and am always interested in watching the next great TV show or movie.
