A Path Towards Healing

I was drawn to the field of mental health counseling  by  a  strong belief in the power and special nature of therapist/client relationships. I believe everyone deserves an opportunity to feel safe, heard, understood, and cared about. As a naturally empathic individual, it has been an important personal goal to work in the mental health field to be able to provide such a space for people to feel supported and connected while focusing on the client’s specific needs, experiences and to assist in their   growth and transformation.

Throughout my personal and professional experiences, I have continued  to  discover  how  the  therapeutic  process can allow us to feel less isolated and  disconnected;  to  help  guide  us through a delicate process of healing  and  self-discovery.  I  have  always been interested in people and their unique stories. As a clinician, I strive to work with them in an open-minded, creative, caring and supportive framework.

My Core Mission

I believe that everyone possesses a unique story and navigates life’s many obstacles and possible trajectories in their own, individual way. My theoretical orientation draws from multiple, diverse therapeutic modalities such as art therapy, humanistic theories, and mindfulness. However, at its core, my mission as a clinician is to help guide the client through the delicate process of confronting and overcoming trauma and other emotional barriers. I employ a creative, empathic approach to growth that includes both providing the comprehensive care needed in times of distress and intensive work aimed at helping the client realize and build upon their innate, core strengths.

Who I see . . .

I welcome clients of all age groups. However, my focus is on adults, and clients in the range of four years to twelve years of age. I am currently completing my play therapy certificate, which I believe to be a valued and powerful modality for working with children progressing through life’s sometimes difficult developmental stages.

I am a Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy Associate and I have experience working with younger children, teens, and adults in both individual and group settings. I received a Bachelor of Arts of Psychology from Temple University and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Art Therapy from Antioch University Seattle.

How I Help . . .

A proven alternative to traditional therapeutic methods, art therapy can allow the client to access and explore the complex, non-linear structure of the subconscious while using the creative process. One of my main objectives is to allow for alternative means of communication and expression to enhance one’s sensorimotor and cognitive abilities. A core theme of my approach to treatment is a dedicated focus on helping the client improve social skills, cultivate healing, and build positive self-esteem.

I’m dedicated to serving my clients and feel honored to have the privilege of witnessing the many milestones of their therapeutic journey.

More about Me . . .

Throughout my life engaging in the creative process has  been  a passion as well as a transformative and healing process for me. I love art, music, and I am a photographer working with traditional black and white film. As I have honed my crafts I have also learned to appreciate the therapeutic and tactile qualities of clay work. In my free time, I also enjoy the outdoors, being near the water while taking walks and exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It is important for me to be mindful of the  small yet special moments in life and I value time with my family, friends, and animal companions.
