A Single Step: Navigating Your Journey to Wellness

It has been said that “Even the longest journey starts with a single step.” If you are dealing with mental health challenges, it can often seem like an arduous journey and I am here to help. As your Psychiatrist, I will be working closely with you and your family throughout your journey. Often, dealing with mental health issues involves addressing family dynamics, home and school environments, traumas, family histories, and coping mechanisms. This can be a complex process and often requires a multi layered approach in treatment. In some cases, it could mean using medications. On the other hand, medications alone may not address your concerns, or may not be needed at all.

As such, I will also work closely with your therapist and other healthcare providers to ensure you have the care that will help you through your journey. My training has focused on understanding the ‘Mind-Body-Spirit’ connection and how these interconnected concepts can present as mental health symptoms. By choosing me as your psychiatrist, you can be assured that I will work diligently to understand your concerns and collaborate with you to develop a comprehensive plan to support you on your journey.

Holistic Care for Children & Adolescence: Rooted in Experience

I was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona and received my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University. I obtained my medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in California. I chose Osteopathic medicine as I feel the philosophy has a better understanding of connections and applies a holistic approach to medicine. I have been in practice since 2002 and have worked in a variety of settings, including emergency mental health, community mental health, and correctional mental health.

I specialize in treatment and services for children, adolescents, and young adults. I am interested in assessing both the patient and family dynamics to create a holistic and behavioral approach to Psychiatry. Treatment modalities include medication management, partnering with therapists and schools, and building stronger families. In addition, I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults with Developmental Disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s, and LGBTQ+ related issues.

On a personal note…

I have been living in the Seattle area since 2011 and love exploring the outdoor activities available here in WA. I also enjoy performing in local musical ensembles and theater. Traveling to Alaska is a passion of mine, as is volunteering for the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. I enjoy home restoration and neighborhood improvement projects in my spare time. I’m an avid science fiction aficionado, a Star Trek enthusiast, and I consider myself a friend to animals.
