My Path to Help Others…

At a young age, I knew I had empathy. I deeply cared about my classmates, neighbors, family, pets, and strangers. I felt I had a sense of how they may be feeling and was eager to listen to their stories. Fast forward to now, I know empathy and authenticity are at the core of myself and my values. Having this insight at such a young age prepared me to listen to stories and care deeply for others, naturally guiding me to becoming a therapist. A trait that has sparked joy for me my entire life is seeing the authentic sparkle shine in others. It’s that moment when someone talks about something or someone they love, one of their talents or interests, a pet, a memory, or a “light-bulb” moment, where their eyes light up and joy exudes from them. Experiencing this with someone is a magical moment and one I believe everyone has the ability to showcase. My passion for empathy, authenticity, and genuine joy led me to want to help others.

Creating a Safe Space for Authentic Exploration

In my therapy practice, I believe each individual possesses unique and inherent strengths. I am committed to helping clients uncover and embrace these qualities, as well as supporting them in creating a life that feels both fulfilling and joyful. My practice is rooted in providing a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can explore their inner selves and cultivate a sense of authenticity. Using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, in company with person-centered, art therapy, and strength-based methods, I provide compassionate support to navigate life’s challenges and promote emotional well-being. Whether you’re navigating the challenges of adolescence, struggling with stress or anxiety, or seeking to reconnect with your true self, I offer unconditional regard and compassionate support throughout your therapeutic journey.

My Education and Background

I earned a Master of Science in School Counseling at Walden University. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Western Governors University. Before becoming an Associate Therapist, I worked as an Elementary School Counselor for three years where I provided individual and group therapy for students, and support for families. In my work as a school counselor, I was given a front row seat to the deep feelings of students. Themes I noticed and supported were feelings of stress, anxiety, self-consciousness, peer concerns, and overall seeking to speak with adults they trusted. In my role, I directly supported hundreds of students with diverse needs, strengths, and goals. It was deeply rewarding to be a trusted presence for them, as I listened to and understood their concerns. I believe this experience has laid a strong foundation for my work as a therapist.

On a Personal Note:

In my free time, you can find me with my family and two dogs, Gimli and Nova. I believe a great recipe for my own joy is my dogs and the beach. I find this to be the perfect blend of adventure and peace, especially if coffee is involved!
