About Helen
Child & Adolescent Therapist

My Story:

As a child, I had big feelings and felt others deeply as well. While these traits have been a guiding light towards my work as a therapist today, it was not always an easy journey. I often felt misunderstood, “too much,” or “out of control” of my emotions. These stories I wrote about myself dictated much of my self-concept throughout my childhood and adolescence. Nonetheless, I have come to learn that rather than seeing my feelings as being “too much,” they are my most important teacher and guide for how I move through the world, connect with others, and approach this work.

Approach to Mental Health:

I believe that people come to therapy in the hopes that they will find a trusted vessel to store their inner thoughts and most challenging feelings. Where they can discuss problems they experience as overwhelming and feel safe and free of shame in return. Additionally, as a therapist who loves their work with children, I also know that there is space for play, joy, and light in our work together. Whatever you or your loved one is seeking, I will work hard to be that vessel.

It is brave to choose therapy, and I am honored to be a part of your story.

Professional Experience and Orientation:

As a provider coming from years of experience in public and private schools, most of my experience has been focused on working with children and adolescents (as well as their families and other caregivers). This work has taught me about the multitudes of factors that can impact someone’s mental health and development, the beauty of human resilience, and the power of the therapeutic relationship.

My work is grounded in a constellation of theoretical orientations, such as Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Humanistic, and other Trauma-Informed approaches. I deeply believe in meeting you or your loved one where you/they are and embracing your/their unique needs and experiences.
