About Amanpreet “Aman”
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Issaquah Washington
My Inner Calling
Before beginning my career in healthcare, I served as a teaching assistant and tutor with the goal of becoming a teacher. While I found both teaching and working with children of all ages fulfilling, I sensed that something was lacking. During my health and nutrition classes for my education degree, it dawned on me that I not only cared about their academic growth but also their physical and mental well-being. My inner calling to care for others led me towards nursing which filled that missing element that I was looking for. In my career now, I aspire to integrate my background in education and nursing to provide culturally competent and patient-centered care.
Who I see …
I treat adults with a variety of mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and mood disorders. In addition to medication management, I also provide brief supportive psychotherapy.
Background and Credentials
I have a Bachelor of Education degree from Seattle Pacific University. I received my nursing degree from Marian University in Indianapolis. I completed my Master of Science in PMHNP from Walden University.
I have experience working in community mental health in inpatient, voluntary, involuntary, and outpatient settings. I have also worked in an outpatient private practice setting.
On a Personal Note
I enjoy traveling and have a goal to travel to every continent and visit all 50 states! I also love learning about other cultures, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with loved ones. Helping others brings me great joy which is why I dedicate part of my spare time to mentor aspiring nursing students, particularly those who are immigrants and have English as their second language. The South Asian Community is close to my heart, and I am dedicated to being a mental health advocate for my community.
